Alison Dare: The Heart of the Maiden is an exciting and action packed graphic novel aimed at younger readers. With a famous archaeologist for a mother and a superhero father, Alison Dare has some mighty big shoes to fill.The Heart of the Maiden is an interesting introduction to the Dare family. Told in mini-episodic stories, the novel is sure to keep a younger reader's attention. But for me, it was a little all over the place. It seemed that every time I would get into the flow of the novel, the episode would be over and on to something else. Thankfully, this did not occur for the whole novel. As the novel progressed, the story-lines merged into one coherent story-line allowing me to really feel connected with the overall story.The Heart of the Maiden is a novel that I would definitely recommend for younger teens. It has plenty of action, fun characters, and is full of adventures. However, for readers 16+, this series may be a little juvenile for you.
