All this and more await readers in the gut-wrenching sequel to Shade.Gosh, where do I begin with Shift?From the beginning, I was excited about Shift. I adored Shade. Its characters.. romance.. originality.. you name it. I literally ate Shade up. And I really expected the same from Shift. But something about this novel just felt off.At first, I fell into the novel. Aura is such a fantastic character. No matter what she has gone through, she still has this air about her that screams strength. Logan, on the other hand, just confuses me. One moment, he is a gentlemen. The perfect fit for Aura. The next, I want to pull his ghostly hair out. Sweet or selfish. Homebody or fame-seeker. At times, it really felt like he had multiple personalities. Honestly, I loved him in Shade, and wanted to punch him (for the most part) in Shift. While I have minor complaints about Logan, Zachary literally needed a shaking. I have never felt so frustrated with a male character. One moment, he and Aura are in sync. The next, everything has gone to hell. It was not until almost the ending of the novel that I think I understood him. There are a few loose strands at the end of the novel, so we will just have to wait and see.Boy drama aside. Shift was a very satisfying sequel. Readers get quite a few plot holes filled in, and are presented with a few new questions. At this point, I adored this series enough to continue with the next novel... even though most of my questions have already been answered. But I am sure that Jeri Smith-Ready has plenty more up her sleeve.
