The Liar Society

The Liar Society - Lisa Roecker, Laura Roecker When I sat down with The Liar Society, I was not exactly sure what to expect. Paranormal? Mystery? The summary leads the novel in quite a few possible directions. But once I started this simply amazing debut, I did not want to stop. And I didn't... not until I finished the last page. The Liar Society is fun blend of Nancy Drew and Pretty Little Liars. The tale centers around grief-stricken Kate who is trying to move on with her life after the tragic loss of her best friend Grace. However, everything comes flooding back when she receives a mysterious email from Grace. But the dead cannot email... or can they?First off, I loved Kate. She was vulnerable, super smart, and to top everything off, we share the same name. I just had to love her. Along with Kate, there are a variety of other characters. From Seth, the perfect sidekick to Liam, the bad boy who may or not really be a bad boy, each character had their own personalities.. their own quirks, which made them super fun to read about. As to the mystery of the novel, I have mixed feelings here. Some parts really caught me by surprise. Others, while not 100% predictable, did not catch me as off guard as I might have hoped. However, plenty of twists and turns, await in The Liar Society, and will definitely keep you on the edge of your seat.Ultimately, The Liar Society was a lot more than what I was expecting. Outstanding characters, plenty of plot twists, and just enough romance round out this amazing debut. The Liar Society is the first novel in the Liar Society series. And if any of the upcoming novels in the series are as compelling, the Roecker sisters have a lifetime reader in me.
