Review in 75 words or less: Unique premise with fairy-tale like plot. Rather slow beginning filled with awkward transitions. The plot held much promise, but sometimes it felt like there was too much character growth that added little to the overall plot. Plenty of memorable characters who added much to the novel with their depth and emotion. Enjoyed that the novel has the ability to expand into other novels which will further flesh out this interesting world that Harrison has created.Final Verdict: Despite a shaky beginning, this novel was very enjoyable. Harrison took her time to give depth to the characters and world she created, and I really appreciated that. The novel has two other companion novels (The Princess and the Bear--already released and The Princess and the Snowbird--releasing in May 2010) which I plan on devouring as soon as I can.
