The Mark is a phenomenal debut novel that makes the reader question the rightness of informing someone of their impending death. Despite a slow beginning, I really enjoy this novel. Cassie is a character that is easy to relate to. And as a reader, it was interesting to see how her mind worked in regards to the conflicting situation that she faced. Nadol skillfully blends in each side of the argument with philosophy and allows the reader, to a point, to pick a side.Once the novel got into a stride, it was completely absorbing. I did not want to stop reading. Nadol writes in a manner that seems completely effortless. The characters are touching and full of emotions, the topic is fully researched, the plot is pretty fast paced... it all blends together so well. This is a moving debut novel that is not to be missed.
